Noticed in a few viewings that the kid watching tv in the beginning says "Deborah".

Saw "Foolish Beat" earlier today, though just as I was flipping channels.

How are you seeing all of these because Vh1 doesn't play music videos anymore.  What cable company do you have because I want them.

VH1 Classic is on  satellite and Iit's also on digital cable. Though the videos air during the night to mid day since there's movies and some specials air during the afternoon hours.

There should be a "25 Lame" like special  on Fuse or VH1 Classic...  Cheesy

Ugh, found this while searching for "Best" & "Worst" lists...

Much Music's "Back In"

Atleast she's not listed for '87 & '88.

Notice a few  errors, though not sure since the specials were from Canada. In which might've been released later in Canada.

"Seperate Ways" from Journey came out in 1983 not 1986.

Quote
1989

Best videos

1. "One" by Metallica
2. "Like a Prayer" by Madonna
3. "Free Fallin'" by Tom Petty
4. "All I Want Is You" by U2
5. "Fight the Power" by Public Enemy

Worst videos
1. "Electric Youth" by Debbie Gibson
2. "Seventeen" by Winger
3. "Sacred Emotion" by Donny Osmond
4. "Hangin' Tough" by New Kids on the Block
5. "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You" by Michael Bolton

I don't think MTV wants to give Deborah any respect of any kind even if it meant that they would become a good network again.  What's even more galling is that they used to play her videos all the time.

I remember on an episode of "Beavis and Butt Head" Butt Head made a joke that the song "Seventeen" was Joey Buttafuco's theme song.  Grin

Only seen about 5 of Deb's videos on VH1 Classic, which I recently got a few months ago.

Not counting the "A to Z Marathon", the most I've seen are "Lost In Your Eyes" and "Only In My Dreams" about four or five  times each.  Also have seen "Foolish Beat" & "Shake Your Love". As of the few months of viewing, her videos air time to time (once or twice)  in every one/two weeks in their morning video block and "Totally 80's".

Only seen "Electric Youth" once and haven't seen "Out Of The Blue" yet.

Well, better than none.

Though  music videos only air during the night to mid day while VH1 Classic air specials (ie "Classic Albums", VH1 rejects like "I Love the __s"), movies, concert specials (mostly current concerts from past artists) and "Pop Up Video" during regular viewing hours.

Since it's a Viacom network, wouldn't be suprised if the music video hours decreases over time until it's another vast cesspool like Moronic TV & Very Horrible One (just thought of a new nick name for VH1  Grin ).

Best while it lasts...

Checked the rankings on the Google archives

Appeared to be rigged since Marilyn Manson, U2, Culture Club, Marky Mark, New Kids, and Hootie & The Blowfish  (I know Manson... BLECH!  & U2 were still popular in 1999.  I like several songs from Culture Club, but they were already long disbanded in 1999 and probably wouldn't be considered "cool" by the network) are on the top 25.

As for Marky Mark, probably because Mark Wahlburg was a popular actor at the time and the network probably didnt want to offend him. Though he has regrets about his past.

Jordan Knight & Joey McIntyre from New Kids On The Block had solo hits that year.  Ironically, "You Got It (The Right Stuff)" is actually the only song from the group I like.

Strangely Vanilla Ice is at #40 (suprised that he wasn't among the Top 10), though probably placed in the Top 10 on the special since he appeared on the special.

Deb still at 10... ugh!

Also suprised that Hall & Oates being #7 since I never thought they would be that disliked...

Then again, probably the same people that voted for BS, Limp Bizkit, and Puff Daddy on the now defunct  "TRL"...  Roll Eyes

Also out of 50 videos...

for May 7th (the show aired on May 8th)...

How many people even remember Chunky A (Arsenio Hall) "Owww!" since the special is the only time I heard about it and never mentioned in messageboards (ie worst songs/music video topics)...

(I'll admit that googled this out of boredom and that this year will mark the 10th anniversary of the special)

Actually they might've omitted the Marilyn Manson video because of the Coulmbine tragedy since his music was blamed for the attack.

The producers probably would be afraid that the comedians on the show might make a tasteless comment about it.

Though for the others... a mystery and funny that Pearl Jam is on the poll since they were pretty much still kissed upon at the time.
