Electric Youth 2.0: Amanda Bynes To Record Album Featuring Debbie Gibson Coversby Dudley D. Wright Following the footsteps of the likes of Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan, the star of the 2007 adaptation of "Hairspray" Amanda Bynes will record an album featuring 10 covers of Debbie Gibson songs. "It's always been my dream to become a singer. Since appearing in a hit film musical, I feel like it's time to release a pop album." Bynes also happens to be a fan of former '80's pop princess and stage actress Deborah Gibson. "I'm so not into the bad girl image, which you won't find me on TMZ. I've always liked 'Only In My Dreams'. Today's youth should be exposed to good, catchy tunes from an actual talent rather than record label creations." She'll start recording in the summer and is signed to Hollywood Records.
The not yet titled album will be produced by JR Rotem, who worked for Britney Spears. "There's going to be some alterations on some songs like 'Shake Your Love', which will have more of a 'hip' edge and 'Lost In Your Eyes' would have to change to 'Lust In Your Eyes' to appeal today's youth". The album is scheduled for release sometime next year and has to be approved by Deborah Gibson.
