LOS ANGELES: Singer Debbie Gibson has filed for a restraining order against a Spanish man who runs a fan club and has allegedly followed her on concert tours and showed up at her door.

Gibson on Tuesday asked that Bassas Jorge Puigdollers, 44, stay 100 yards (91 meters) away, not attempt to contact her by phone or e-mail, and stop attending her concerts, according to court documents filed in Superior Court.

The man, reached by phone in Spain, said he meant no harm.

"I wanted to use the fan club to help people who can't go see her to get autographs and photos," he told The Associated Press in Spanish, adding that the correct spelling and order of his name is Jordi Bassas Puigdollers.

Gibson claimed Puigdollers has attended all of her "nationwide performances" since 2002, where he often tries to go backstage to see her and get autographs. He also follows her to her hotel room, according to court papers.

 When Puigdollers came to the front door of Gibson's Los Angeles home Sunday, the 1980s pop star called police "for fear of my life," she wrote in court documents.

The Police Department granted Gibson an emergency protective order that expires Friday, according to her court papers.

The emergency order allows Puigdollers to get within 10 yards (9 meters) of Gibson at her concerts, but he still must stay at least 100 yards (91 meters) from her home.

"I understand that she wants her privacy," said Puigdollers, a taxi driver. "I would like to say I'm sorry. I don't want problems and I don't want to bother her so much."

Puigdollers left a note under Gibson's door Thursday suggesting that the two meet in El Paso, according to the singer.

"If you like, contact me," he said in a note that was included with the court documents. He signed it with his phone number in Barcelona and an e-mail that begins "debhead."

A hearing for Gibson's request was scheduled for May 28.

Puigdollers said he was not discouraged by Gibson's attempt to restrict his concert-going. He plans to attend five Gibson concerts at a casino in Atlantic City in May.

I don't know who this person is, but I have heard that he is a harmless fan who has met Deb a gazillion times.  He needs therapy to realize that he is NOT her friend or that she remotely cares about him.  Deb is not interested in her fans and no matter how nice she is to you, she could care less about you.  You are only a fan people and that is all you will ever be.  Do not go to her house, do not think she cares about you if she is nice to you, and certainly do not think that by traveling around to see her live around the world (HA HA) she will care about you.  NO.  You will just be on security's list.  d

Of course he has pictures of him and her all over his walls.  Surprised that it was not his whole house.  The guy obviously is a huge fan, has traveled all around to see her, and is proud of his super fan status.  I don't know if he is crazy though and I really hope he writes on this blog.  From what I have read, a lot of people think Deb is the nut for doing this and that even though people realize celebrities have been killed and so forth from fans, blogs have trashed Deb more than Jordi on this.  I can't blame Deb for freaking out that someone appeared at her house and wanting to prevent him from coming back.  I don't know what he is like at shows but if he has so many pictures with her, then she obviously is not really afraid of him, cause years ago in the 80's when she was famous I remember Deb not letting people near her who she did not want near her and having security not let them near her and have heard she is the same way now.  If Deb leaked this to the press, she should be ashamed of herself.  She should have just gotten the order if she felt it necessary and never went to the press.  This is the 2nd or 3rd time she has gone to the press about restraining orders against fans.

Just came back from lunch with a friend who of course had to talk to me about this cause she read the story on the internet and all she did was ask me if I knew this person (no) and then laughed that this is probably a way for her to get out of her Atlantic City shows since no one is buying tickets!!!  I spat iced tea out of my mouth laughing so hard at that one.

HA HA HA!  I just got a call from the East Coast that The Insider has picked up the story.  Can she milk this for anymore press?  When will she ever get press for her music?  Atlantic City just got 1 more ticket sold!

Are you guys serious about this?  You really think Deborah leaked this to the press to get publicity?  Sites like TMZ use the Freedom of Information Act to access these records.  They got it that way and reported it.

wow.. i feel horrible for her... jordi requested me on myspace around a year ago, and although he seemed a lil over enthusiastic about deb.. never thought he would have gone this far... his myspace is http://www.myspace.com/jordidebhead and u can tell from his pics that he really has traveled around the us to see her (clearwater and orlando fl, NY twice and MA) after reading the paper work and his letter to Deb.. i am honestly a lil creeped out...

As bad as any staker kind of thing is I'm glad that this one isn't as bad as the one was about ten years ago.  That guy had a knife and intended to really hurt her in a bad way.  I think he did some jail time.  If not he should have.  I read the court order on TMZ's website and there was no mention made of a weapon thank God.

There comes a point when a "big fan" becomes a stalker.  Following her to the hotel or showing up at her L.A. residence's front step crosses that line.

I can see trying to meet them backstage or getting an autograph outside a hotel, restaurant...you know...on the sidewalk.  Also, fan club meet and greets, cd signings, etc...     

Also, going to multiple concerts is not an offense.  That is the fan's right if they so choose.

I think Deb was more than gracious with him as far as pictures taken together goes.  He must have confused that with being "good friends" of her's.  I kind of wonder if he signed up for Camp Electric Youth, or do they screen out the applicants?  Things could get interesting for both of them if he tries to show up at the Atlantic City shows.
