Though I actually  like their songs "Buddy Holly"  (the music video is one of the best of the 1990's) and "Undone (The Sweater Song)", I'm indifferent towards Weezer and "Beverly Hills", from some years ago,  is probably the worst I've heard from the band.  Also thought they've broken up several years ago.

The breathtakingly stupid Weezer begs the question: Is this for real? Or are the over-processed hooks and lobotomized lyrics intentional self-parody? When Rivers Cuomo sings, "So turn off the TV, 'cause that's what others see, and movies are as bad as eating chocolate ice cream," is he a comic genius feigning creative bankruptcy? (C'mon, look at the crrrazy album cover!) Either way, it doesn't matter. If the so-called "Red Album" really is an elaborate goof on an all-too-forgiving fan base, that doesn't make Weezer's newest worst album any less insipid.

Peaking early on Weezer's untouchable first two records, Cuomo now seems unable (or unwilling) to write a single heartfelt song. Instead, he substitutes smarm for sentiment on embarrassing dreck like "Heart Songs," paying tribute to everyone from Nirvana to Debbie Gibson (while mistakenly referencing a Tiffany song) with an air of insufferable, ain't-I-a-stinker smirkiness better suited for the likes of Bowling For Soup. Even after the apparent bottoming-out of 2005's Make Believe, Weezer is a dispiritingly awful record. The contrast between pap like "Pork And Beans" and "Everybody Get Dangerous" and the hilariously twisted, emotionally pent-up songs the band was once known for has never been starker. The blame for Weezer can't all be laid on Cuomo—his bandmates' songwriting contributions (particularly Brian Bell's Uncle Kracker stab "Thought I Knew") are just as unforgivably soulless. Together they punch holes in Weezer where the heart and brain should be.

The Deb referance is from "Heart Songs", which mention, "Debbie Gibson Tell Me That That You Think We're All Alone". (source: Google)

She's been mentioned in other songs by other groups before.  The Pixies, and there was one other.  The drummer had a crush on her or something like that and wanted his wife to wear a blonde wig and pretend she was Deborah, something like that.  That's kind of over the top.

CC Deville of Poison had a huge crush on Deborah back in 1987/1988.  His band mates said that he used to talk about her constantly.  I don't think Deborah was into him though.  If I remember the story right, during the summer of 1988 their tours crossed paths and I think he went to see her show.  I think he got to meet her after.  I know I've seen a picture of her with Poison during that time somewhere before.

There was an archival clip shown in Poison's "Behind The Music" with CC Deville and Deb backstage.

I remember orginally seeing it on The Week in Rock and I think Deb was at the Poison concert.

It's easy to tell the two apart. Tiffany was a "teen" pop sensation, Deborah too was a "teen" pop sensation. Tiffany then went into obscurity before one of her albums became a sort of hit, same goes for Deborah. Tiffany "divorced" her parents, Deborah moved away from her father and sisters to California. Tiffany did a stupid photoshoot in Playboy, not to be outdone, Deborah too did an even more stupid photoshoot in Playboy.

You see, they are easy to tell apart.

I never got to see that.  I imagine he was trying to coax her into going out with him and collaborating with them on a new album.

The Original TX/GGRDonald

There was a dumb celebrity wrestling fan fiction some years ago with Beyonce taking on Deb.  Tongue

Though don't think Deb & Tiffany were caricatured on that show though there was never a real rivalry since it was made up by the media.

Beyonce won, though it was mostly a list of moves (most I don't even know of like "stomach claw") and doesn't have any dialog.

It wasn't good. Not just because Beyonce won, but it wasn't funny (ie no jokes/comments about the two artists) or interesting.

What was mentioned the most was Beyonce aiming  for Deb's midsection, Beyonce using hips,  and ended with a kick in the face.
