I concur. Britney's music is just totally horrible compared to Deb

One thing about their overexposure I don't understand is that I doubt there's anybody over 17 that actually listens to The Jonas Brothers or "Hanna Montana" besides sickos and maybe some soccer moms that try to fit with their kids' favorite music.

True that some like   Taylor Swfit has mass appeal, but she actually has talent while the majority (especially from Disney Channel) are just manufactured pop acts with very little or no real talent and most of the songs aren't even good in the first place. Not to mention others that are more known for being tabliod fodder rather than their career (ie Lindsay Lohan, ironically started at Disney along with a few others).

Then again, I didn't like Hanson when they were popular. I still don't, but now in retrospect have some respect since they actually play instruments and still performing despite ever changing trends.

I know the Jonas Brothers are really big right now but I can't name any of their songs.

Personally, Deb probably would be the best "teen singer" from the '80's.

Don't get me wrong since I like Wham!, New Edition, The Jets, 5 Star, Kylie, and selected songs from Tiffany & New Kids, but Deb actually had had/still have the craft of making good pop songs by actually recording, producing, and playing instruments that stood from her peers and many female artists 5/10 years older. Deb pretty much can pull off upbeat pop/pop-rock, soothing  ballads, which she actually puts heart into, and is a successful stage actress.

Like what she have called herself several years ago, she's an all around entertainer.

"Only In My Dreams", her first hit, is a good pop song with a catchy beat and never gets old.

George Michael would come close in talent since he actually was a songwriter and producer. Though from  Wham!, I pretty much prefer hits from "Make It Big" ("Everything She Wants", "Careless Whisper", "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go") and "Last Christmas".  Some of the earlier material I've heard from 'The Final' compilation (ie 'Wham Rap') haven't aged well. Also like  some of his solo songs, though I'll stop since I'm focusing more on his Wham! era since he was in his 20's when he was a successful solo artist.

Five Star were OK. I discovered their music while watching a vintage episode of "Soul Train" a few years ago, which reminded me of New Edition and were a family act like The Jackson 5 & The Jets.

Several members of The Jets played an instrument. They had catchy/upbeat songs like "Curioisity" & "Crush On You", though only lasted about two albums.
