I've never seen The King and I. Not even the movie. I think Yul Brynner was the one that made that role famous.

Yes he was. I have seen the show twice on two different runs when it has made national tour stops here in Cincy. My first time seeing the show Lou Diamond Phillips was the King the second time I saw the show on a different tour that came through Haley Mills AKA The Parent Trap star played the teacher Deb's role. I thought the both times I saw the show they were excellent.

I heard of the title, but don't know much about it besides a referance in "Tiny Toons Adventures" that featured a movie poster in a Sinead O'Connor parody.
edited: it's a referance not a parody.

I am not going because California way out of my way. I saw King and I either last year for the year before that so and I have seen it twice. That's one thing about being a season ticket holder for the Broadway series after a while the seasons start running together when you saw what.

If that is what she wants to do, that is great. Hope it is a blast and she has a great time. BUT! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!! I got cramps from laughing so hard. I just got off the phone with a friend at a major agency. He says this: "it is some 2 week production at a theatre north of LA in the valley....that is so low rent.....it is a step above dinner theatre...I know that theatre...they don't even get the broadway touring companies of productions...they get the regional productions with the 3rd rate cast......They do CATS a lot there." From the theatre's website, I think this is great and though I HIGHLY doubt that Deborah is doing this play for this reason, this is great: Cabrillo Music Theatre’s mission is to introduce the musical theatre experience directly to the socially, culturally, and economically diverse and underserved populations in Ventura and Los Angeles Counties.... http://www.cabrillomusictheatre.com/about.html

Well I see it this way community theater or regional theater is better then no gig at all. I have yet too see an awful production of the King and I. I am sure everyone will enjoy it who attends.

It has to be an Equity gig for her to be in it unless she requested a waiver. She can't just go to any theater and do a show...

Oh I am sure it is because I remember Barry Williams aka Greg Brady. He got into trouble over performing in non equity show. I even saw that national tour of south Pacific when it came too town in 2001. From what I remember reading they gave him a hefty fine. Erica It has to be an Equity gig for her to be in it unless she requested a waiver. She can't just go to any theater and do a show...

Just curious if there is anyone on this list from the Los Angeles area that is planning to go to this performance?

The actress who played Anna in the movie name was Deborah... though Deborah Kerr. Saw the soundtrack while looking at vinyl at a thrift store.

Hi friends, I've added 33 pics about this musical on post "Deborah's pictures". Enjoy it. I'll not be there to give her my support, because she doesn't want. But I'm sharing all those pics with all you here, with or without her authorization, don't mind her opinion. Jordi.

Don't worry Jordi, if the audience is anything like I heard the audiences were for Saint Heaven, there won't be many people there to support her period.
