You are still at the age where you are concerned about what others think about you.  As you get older it means less and less.  You start to look at the people that do give you a hard time and see that they are really losers.  I guess it's also that you have a more developed sense of yourself too.

Sometimes I think I should definately keep my thoughts to myself  Tongue Lips sealed

Though can't really say anything too personal since I'm a private person and  messageboards (the internet in general) isn't the right place to do so...

Also the demographic since the majority of the music that's popular now appear to be more youth oriented...

I think she deserves to be heard on the radio. "Already Gone" would scare listeners away, my local radio showgram did "Smash Hit or Trash It" with it, and for the most part, everyone said it was like nails on a chalkboard. One woman said she tunred the radio off 45 seconds into the song. Another woman asked if Gibson had friends, family or a manager that would honestly tell her that the song is awful.

I don't think it's that awful-I think it's really good in my opinion. I guess I'm bias when it comes to Deborah's music. Songs like Sounds like Love and Famous and Naked need to be heard and she deserves a fair chance at radio

I wonder how old is the woman that says Deb's song is awful. Shocked Basically in my opinion many have not heard of Deb's ballads and how GOOD her voice is. You were right to say that Deb songs needs re-spinning on radio. I second you on this.  Grin

I agree that Deb's voice definately shines when it comes to ballads

As for haters, most probably never listened to anything from Deb from the past 18 years or only her early songs (which aren't even bad) and probably just put her down for no real reason. Unfortunately, she's one of those artists that most wouldn't take seriously.

I've done song polls and song promotions on a nostalgia forum in the past that ended up getting rude/ignorant comments.

Yes, this is what I like about Deb. Wink Oh, those people are missing out on a lot of good songs. Cheesy Recently I shared some Deb songs from her Memory Lane & Deborah album (which you guys posted on You Tube) on my FB, my friends gave comment that Deb has a great voice & etcs. I'll be sharing more of her songs since her birthday is 3 days away. Smiley

I've heard songs that are in the top 10 that are so bad, the vocals are terrible, and the person's voice is just too grating to listen to.  I usually think that person either slept their way to a record deal or some DJ in a major market really loves them or their songs and pushed them to an obnoxious level because they didn't get radio play based on their talent, that's for sure.

Payola  Roll Eyes

One thing that puzzles me about Lady GaGa is that she supposedly writes her own songs and play keyboards, and yet represents everything that's wrong with today's pop music with her overly raunchy stage persona/being more focused on image, computerized singing, and that her songs are no different than from the likes others, IMHO.

There's not many songs that I actually like from the past decade and the number of artists are very, very few.

Didn't post anything any 'boards today, except on a "this or that" board game where I posted two of her early songs.  Basically that's it.

I'm pretty much a "closet fan".

Though most people my age have never heard of her or only by name or whatever. Just to play the "safe card", I would just say that I listen to anything. (technically, I consider myself "Old School Top 40" since I'm a sucker for compilation CDs)

It's funny how my opinions tend to change...

Honestly, still say yes...but with the right place, time, and demographic

I have sounded negative for the past several days, but just stating my opinions on reality shows in general.

I hope Lady GaGa is just a passing fad.
