Deb talking about the Culture Club dance club  and the '80's Fox business

Vinyl has made a comeback since I've seen them on shelves. Rick Astley, wasn't he an internet meme...

Tower Records, used to go there in the past decade. Ironically, it was the only place around my area I found Deb's albums and good imports

Clubs come and go like a flash of lightening but I think this one probably will be more permanent.

Vinyl was better than cassette tape.  It had better sound especially bass.  The only real advantage that cassettes had was they were small and more portable.

Yeah that happens here as well clubs come and go as soon as they open It seems like new clubs open and close with the changing of the seasons.

Deb doesn't like hipsters either.  I can't think of anyone that does really.  I know I don't.

Most music critics, especially from Rolling Stone and certain websites, are hipsters.

I think that's one of the main reasons why "Rolling Stone" is so bad.  All groups of people have a stereotype but none of them are more true to that stereotype than hipsters or rednecks.  I think what gets me most about hipsters besides their clothes that would make a dog sick is that condescending and arrogant attitude that they put out there.

Q&A with Life and Style magazine and Suite 101 site.

Some excerpts

Quote
My worst hair cut was...
The short bowl cut. It only ever worked for Chynna Phillips!

Deb looked cute with short hair, though an exception of one from a Rick Dees performance where she performed "One Step Ahead".

Quote
The oldest thing in my closet is...
A Bugs Bunny T-shirt I got on a class trip to Great Adventure when I was 14. It has holes in it but it's super comfy.

Quote
The worst advice I ever got was...
To do something scandalous. Many a publicist has told me that it would make their job a heck of a lot easier!

Ironically, countless have followed that...  Roll Eyes

From Suite 101 interview
Quote
Gibson Discusses her Future Plans
“I am writing my new album which has songs that truly represent who I am these days,” she remarks. “The lyrics come from a deep place and I cannot wait to share it with everyone but I am taking my time because the songs deserve the ultimate care and attention to detail. I will be doing my second annual Gibson Girl Foundation Gala on May 21st as well as doing appearances in the coming months for The Apprentice!”

I didn't mind her short hair.  I even thought she looked good with it.  I never did understand why some fans just lost it when she got it cut like that.

Interview from Land Mark Report

Still with the Playboy questions...  Roll Eyes

Quote
As the “Original Pop Princess”, she can more aptly be described now as the Queen of the 80s, having revolutionized the music industry of the decade and leaving her influence on pop music since then.

"Queen of Pop" would be 20% cooler, or make that 100%

Interview from Huffington Post

Deb talks about "Celebrity Apprentice", her personal life, and current music she listens to.

Quote
Are you currently working on any new music?

I've been doing a ton of writing. It reminds me of when I first started writing at 12 years old and writing the Out of the Blue album. I've been more in the midst of real life and inspired by that as opposed to, "Oh, three years have gone by. It's time to get out another record. I'd better whip up some mediocre songs and release them."

Do you feel you've done that in the past?

Yeah, I think it was a reflection that I wanted to make music, but I wasn't really inspired by anything. Now I've not been spinning my wheels so much, and I've allowed room for songs to really come to me. To me the best songs come when you get out of your own way.

Deb article on American Profile about her charity work and some info about upcoming music.

Quote
Gibson says she’s moved back full-circle to music, writing songs like she used to do in her bedroom, tunes that take her back to her parents’ Long Island garage. “I’ve been writing the deepest songs that I’ve written in many years,” she says. She expects to release a new single this spring and a new album by the end of the year.

I would love to see her do another album like her first one.  That album was simple, straight forward, and very good.  The only thing was is that they should have put more photos in it.

Deb interview in More Magazine

About charity, music, and personal life

Quote
More: Having been a teen pop sensation, what do you think of today’s young talent?
DG: I like a lot of them. Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and I like Selena Gomez a lot. If any teen can handle the fame part of the business I am impressed. Overall, I think music is in a great place and today’s teens are leading the pack, which for me is so great to see. I watch American Idol all of the time and I am completely blown away by some of these young artists. A good song is a good song and age does not matter.

More: Speaking of artists, are you recording new music?
DG: I am working on new music that reflects the life I live today, such as the man I have been with for four years. I am in an actual real relationship that I love.

Quote
More: Have you gotten better with age?
DG: I am 41 and I am proud of where I am today. I have evolved a lot as an artist and I think the people who have followed me over the years will see that reflected in my music. Not only is it authentic, but the production sound is a combination of both old and new.
