I pretty much promoted the song  on some board by dissing it (ie reverse psychology) and imitating the snarky/immature comments that I've read in the past.

Backfired... then again it's pretty much like trying to get people who are mostly  into one thing interested in another that they wouldn't give a chance for eternity

I've noticed a few comments about her voice sounding high.

Personally she sounds fine, though I don't know anything about octives/pitches/or whatever.

Also she obviously  actually can sing.

Most pop singers today tend to use pro-tools to alter their voices and are either horrible or mediocre. I'm not fond of the majority of the pop singers from the past decade since I don't see their appeal (besides several being tabloid fodder) and the music isn't that good like Lady GaGa, who's been kised upon by critics..

Took a listen to the video posted on youtube.  Eh, what can I say...it's not something I want to listen to more than once.  It sounds like a disposable pop song that can clutter the radio airwaves.  It kind of pains me to say that, but I know Deb can do better.  Maybe the better songs are being saved for cd release?  Undecided

I can recognize some pseudo-glam metal guitar riff in the song (although not memorable)... is Fred Coury the same guy who drummed for Cinderella?

It's a change for Deb, but not sure if that's for the better.

Yes Fred Coury's from Cinderella.

She actually  have stated that she wants a mainstream comeback, which is probably why the song has a current pop-rock sound. Not a bad thing if done right and she have pulled off "MYOB", which had/has a fresh vibe, very well. It's not like she's changing her image or trying to be somebody she's not (ie emo, trashy pop singer).

Not saying it's among her best songs (it's good, though she have other songs) though I tend to listen to it about a few times a week.

Interesting points. There isn't really a lot of new songs out there that grab me these days.  Kelly Clarkson's first single isn't bad (chorus is kinda lame, but catchy).  Beyonce's new stuff has got some good hooks to them.

Rock bands, I don't know.  I generally listen to older stuff after Nickelback and Kid Rock took over the charts.  The one band I can give props to is Three Doors Down.  Whatever I hear from them on the radio usually have great song structure to them.  They stand out from the cookie-cutter Nickelback type bands.

I think Deb is reaching in various directions and it shows so far in the new songs.  Variety can be good, if it has merit.  I'm not hearing that in Deb's web songs...

I couldn't believe too what song I woke up to today remake.   It was wham's Careless whisper with very heavy rock sound by Seether.  I am into Seether's music but honestly it wasn't bad.

Speaking of Careless Whisper I was visiting with my sister today while she was at work and she said  "hey did'n't debbie gibson sing that song: I'm never gonna dance again guilty feet have got no rhythm"

she said the song name and

I said no that was george micheal she said "oh" lol

Seether's version of "Carless Whisper"

The song's OK, though not much on the singer's voice.

I've heard far worse covers.
(note: the person from the ^ song link actually sucked the life out of the song!)

There's not many songs nor artists from the past decade and Natasha Bedingfield is the only singer that I actually own more than one of the albums. (I pretty much have early "Now" albums and similar compilations). Also "throw back" artists like Duffy's '60's soul inspired sound and The Ting Tings' new wave style.

Ironically, I'm pretty much more "hipper" now, as of the past few years, than I was a decade ago since the then current pop and rap music (though I like some of the old school) didn't appeal to me and majority of my peers were more into  current  rap & R&B.

As for rock, I'm pretty much now in my '80's hard rock  &  hair metal phase since I've gotten interested in Ratt, Dokken, and Cinderella for over the past year. Though I've already enjoyed songs from Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Guns N' Roses, and Van Halen for a few years and selected songs that catches my interest. (whether it's good or campy)  One could say that it's an "alternative" to emo, which is a bit ironic...

Though during my teens, I was pretty much in my new wave/early alternative phase also some '80's pop. '70's rock, some 60's Motown & British Invasion, and old school rap...

My tastes is a bit random since I don't really listen to a particular genre (I consider myself as "Classic Top 40", though many  of my favorite songs and artists weren't really that mainstream or popular)

I absolutely love the new single/video, and it pleases me that Deborah is using the You Tube as the first place to really vent the new single, I also have been reading the comments on her myspace, which is interesting, because alot of those fans do not come here to post topics and such, but it is great to see alot of the excitment that her new single is giving everyone!  If I had to write a review about it, she would get alot of thumbs up on this, she is basically moving into a slightly different direction than she ever has, because in her early years as recording artist, Deborah always went dance or ballad, really no in betweens, but then again if I think about it, Debs did do one or two rockers on Electric Youth, such as We Could Be Together, which always reminded me of the way Chicago was in the 70's with the horns and harmony.....Love In Disquise was sort of a rocking like song for her too, but then she sort of just drifted off back into dance tracks and ballads again.....but any way back into this new song, she puts me to mind of Pink, Kelly Clarkson and now even Katy Perry who have these edgy songs.....this just may be it for Gibson, and I sure hope some radio stations out there really pick up on it, as far as promoting it as a fan, I tried that idea when she released Naked and got absolutely no where with it, so again I hope she gets some promotion on this.....great song and it sounds like it could be a come back for our Gibson Girl!!!

Deb twittered last week she is working on new tune that could be "THE one"

and Bob repeated that this week as well and he hard what she was working on.

[And speaking of new music, Deborah played me a new track that she is working on and all I can say is OH MY GOD! I can’t tell you anything about it, but what I can tell you is, this could be THE song that puts our girl back in the spotlight. It’s relevant, catchy and electric and I can’t wait until she can share it with the world!

/b]

Aleady gone won't be released to the public/sale or radio but with that being said if we can help promote it people might be curious to what else she has in future.
