MTV's 25 Most Played (not accurate considering the source, though still interesting in a way

)
I vaugely remember watching the special, though at that point I was watching mostly a few specials & "Sifl & Olly" on MTV and more VH1.
Don't think they aired the videos in their entirity since I recall that the "100 Greatest" mostly had about 3 minutes of the music video with people talking over them and "25 Lame" with second rate comedians trashing the videos. Sort of like a precursor to countless VH1 Specials from the past decade.
The '80's videos listed were omnipresent on MTV's "Greatest Videos" countdowns and/or '80's retrospects.
Also some were recent, though by the second half of the 1990's MTV only played videos during the late night/daytime hours. More likely to appeal to their "demographic" or whatever.
Unfortunately, can't find MTV listings from the 1980's and early '90's. Though from sources (ie reading from other forums), they still aired a good amount and also on regular viewing hours.
I know MTV was all music 24/7, though aware that they've started expanding & experimenting with original programming by the later part of the '80's. Though music videos would get shafted to about 15 hours by the 1990's.
Around 1996/1997 (when I started watching the channel), I've seen Beastie Boys' "Fight For Your Right (To Plarty)" on regular rotation and even "No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn" a few times.
If the list were to be accurate, it would be dominated by video clips from the '80's and maybe some from the early '90's.
List of the 25 videos from the list (not in order)
14...'80's
6...early '90's
5...late '90's
So, MTV basically proved themselves that the they aired more videos in the '80's...
Buggles - Video Killed the Radio Star (1979/first video to air on the channel in 1981)
Duran Duran - Hungry Like The Wolf (1983)
The Police - Every Breath You Take (1983)
Michael Jackson - Thriller (1983)
Madonna - Like A Virgin (1984)
a-ha - Take On Me (1985)
Dire Straits - Money For Nothing (1985)
Run DMC/Aerosmith - Walk This Way (1986)
Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer (1986)
Beastie Boys - Fight For Your Right (1986)
Bon Jovi - Livin' On A Prayer (1987)
U2 - With Or Without You (1987)
Guns N Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine (1988)
Aerosmith - Janie's Got A Gun (1989)
MC Hammer - U Can't Touch This (1990)
Madonna - Vogue (1990)
Guns N Roses - November Rain (1992)
Pearl Jam - Jeremy (1992)
Dr. Dre - Nuthin' But A G Thang (1993)
Boyz II Men - I'll Make Love To You (1994)

Coolio - Gangsta's Paradise (1995)
Alanis Morisette - Ironic (1996)
Spice Girls - Wannabe (1997)
Brandy/Monica - The Boy Is Mine (1998)
Though odd there's only one Michael Jackson video on the list. Especially that he's omnipresent on countdowns & retrospects. Especially "Beat It" & "Billie Jean".
Also no Janet.
