10. Radiohead
Early albums are OK. OK computer is a fantastic album. But since it went downhill, Kid A was almost unbearable. I didn't even bother listening to their latest offering.
9. Whitney Houston
True. She has a good voice, but many female singers have, too. And she has her fair share of scandals, too.
8. Barry Manilow
Only known in the US. I have yet to hear a song/see a CD of him in France.
7. Journey
They still exist ? Never heard of them since separate ways (and that was 25 years ago)
6. Celine Dion
Problem is she has a lack of personality : she will sing (well) whatever songs she's told to, but has no personal style. Same for her french albums.
5. Coldplay
Not bad. But in this genre, Keane are 100 times better.
4. Michael Jackson
Seems nobody cares of him anymore here.
3. Beach Boys
hear one song and you've already heard them all.
Agreed
2. Britney Spears
Agreed
1. Madonna
I'll admit that I like a couple of her material from the '80's, but she tends to be "controversial" and try to grasp attention from the media she doesn't really need and follow trends rather being a trend setter she was about 25 years ago.
Here I disagree. What you say is true for her latest album, but the previous ones were OK and did set trends. Except for a few mistakes (i.e. the erotica album), getting quasi ininterrupted success for 25 years is a fantastic achievement.
And no mistake, although I have some early albums of her, I'm Madonna-neutral.
emo
Don't know what is emo exactly, but I quite like their influences... A lot
country
very minor genre here.
gangsta rap
Fantastically boring, I agree.
I'll add all this RNB crap we've been inundated with for a few years. Though I moderately like Amy Winehouse.
