Actually watched "The Big 80's" about 14 years ago, though it mostly featured videos from the early/mid 1980's and many of them edited for time (ie the last few seconds of the song cut off or the intro taken out). Can't find intro on YouTube...

For some reason, VH1 jumped around 2000 with non music related programming and countless countdowns

"Only in My Dreams" was bigger than some of those other songs on that list.

And also 40 music videos... mostly from YouTube's Vevo channel

Considering that VH1 Classic is a spin-off channel of VH1 and not bothering on giving it it's own thread

VH1 Classic Back to School Video Countdown (2010)

Hosted by Carrie Keagan and about 8 videos out of 20 are shown in their entirety

While there's some songs/videos that shouldn't been ranked, it's a notch better than Spinner's countdown  with a similar theme from a few weeks back...

"Bust A Move" Young MC (or "Principal's Office")
"School's Out" Krokus
"Don't Stand So Close To Me" The Police

There's a a scene with a classroom (on the beach) on Debbie Gibson's "Only In My Dreams"  and also a few scenes on Billy Joel's nightmarish video for "Pressure"

Like that they aired the 1986 music video for Psychedelic Furs' "Pretty In Pink", which is rarely seen since the 1981 version is always on regular rotation.

20. Stray Cats "Sexy + 17"

Catchy, though the song's oh so very politically incorrect

19. De La Soul "Me, Myself & I" (video takes place at detention)

Classic video/song and good message of being yourself

18. Kenny Loggins "Footloose"

eh, basically just clips of the movie...also not a good song

17. Rush "Subdivisions" (some scenes of kids at school)

While the video is like a time capsule of the early '80's, I find Rush overrated...

16. Kim Wilde "Kids In America"

Don't see any connection with school. Yeah kids...

Good song though

15. Aerosmith "Crazy"

Overrated and Aerosmith had better songs. It's one of the three mid '90's videos that featured Alicia Silverstone...

14. Biz Markie "Just A Friend"

Classic video and also hilarious with Biz Markie dressed  as a classical composer (ie Beethoven, Mozart)

13. Bonnie Tyler "Total Eclipse Of The Heart"

Mediocre song and one of the most random, strangest, and among the worst videos of the '80's...

12. Toni Basil "Mickey" (cheerleading)

Campy early '80's video with just Toni Basil with cheerleaders with just a white background. Catchy song too

11. AC/DC "You Shook Me All Night Long" (Angus Young's trademark school uniform)

Classic song and funny video.

10. Psychedelic Furs "Pretty In Pink"

OK video, which is just the band performaning and clips pf the movie. Classic song.

9. Nirvana "Smells Like Teen Spirit"

Overrated music video...

8. Night Ranger "Sister Christian"

Great song and also a decent "coming of age" video

7. Simple Minds "Don't You (Forget About Me)"

Fairly good  video (great song) with the lead singer in a room filled with stuff on the floor and clips of "The Breakfast Club".

6. Pink Floyd "Another Brick In The Wall"

Nightmarish video, which is taken from Pink Floyds' film "The Wall"...The meat grinder scene reminds me of a Halloween  episode of "The Simpsons", which I wonder if that's where the writers took the idea from...

5. J. Geils Band "Centerfold"

Classic video and hot women.  It was rumored that original MTV VJ Martha Quinn was in the video, though is  completely false.

4. Ramones "Rock & Roll Highschool"

Great video and doesn't feature scenes from the movie.

3. Twisted Sister "I Wanna Rock"

Somewhat similar to "We're Not Gonna Take It", though still funny...

2. Motley Crue "Smoking In The Boys' Room"

OK cover, funny video though they had better songs, IMHO.

1. Van Halen "Hot For Teacher"

Agree! Also UnPC (like most videos on the countdown), though one of Van Halen's best songs and memorable video ("Waldo", Eddie Van Halen playing guitar while walking on desks) that's way better than "Jump"
