8 Worst Discontinued Foods

I actually thought that the "Crystal Gravy" SNL sketch was a parody of Crystal Geyser water in the 1990's (second half) until I realized several years ago it was for the illfated Crystal Pepsi. Though I'm aware of "New Coke", which have been mentioned several times.

Most are before my time, though vaugely remember Arch Delux (McDonalds is just gross in general, IMHO...though used to go for the toys & nuggets as a kid)

Not listed: about a decade ago I recalled seeing purple & green ketchup, which I thought was nasty and confusing (especially if it's yellow like mustard or white like mayo).

Extremely long (incomplete) list of defunct products

From various Google searches: Rex Jelly, Mug O' Lunch, and Whip n' Chill doesn't sound appealing

Something that captured my attention: Oreo Big Stuf

...though doubt would be made in this day of age

I'm sure there's many snacks that I ate that are nolonger produced, though only can remember a few from Bugs Bunny Graham Crackers (from boxes similar to animal crackers), popsicles shaped as Disney characters,  and cinnamon flavored Sun Chips from several years ago.

Sorry, not for sale/trade.

"Video Hits '80's" was available for free with purchase from store a decade ago that featured 7 music videos from about 1981 to 1987.

Not exactly valuable since the content isn't rare or anything. Plus the packaging is plain.

What I found interesting that in a few years both The Wherehouse record stores, well appears to be online only from a Google search, and VHS tapes would become obsolete.

It was more likely a tie-in to MTV's 20th anniversary (or just a coincidence since it was released in the same year) considering that majority of the artists were staples on the channel back when the it actually stood for "music television"...

Track listing:

Billy Idol "Rebel Yell" (1984)

While I prefer the video for  "White Wedding", it's a great performance clip which Billy Idol appears to be wearing a torned-up MJ "Thriller" jacket and pumps his fist without looking like a dork. Also the keyboardist looks like Cyndi Lauper. Great song

Pat Benatar "Love Is A Battlefield" (1983)

For some reason, I don't like the video. Especially with the out of place dancing and the intro with Bentar being kicked out of the house. The song's OK though not into the artst. Though I like "Invincible".

Poison "Talk Dirty To Me" (1987)

Catchy song though average video with band performing at a colorful soundstage with smoke machines, cliche camera angles & poses.

Heart "These Dreams" (1986)

The surrealism fits well with the tone of the song. While it may look cheesy now, music videos were more creative. OK song

George Thorogood & The Destroyers "Bad To The Bone" (1982)

Indifferent. One of those songs that are always featured in various movies/tv shows. Video featured a cameo from Bo Diddley and featured Thorogood playing pool.

Blondie "Rapture" (1981)

While oveplayed, it's actually one of my favorite songs from the band. The video featured Debbie Harry wandering into a club filled with people in random costumes and cameo from future "Yo! MTV Raps" host Fab 5 Freddy, who happens to be mentioned in the song. It's an OK clip though shown often on VH1's "The Bigs '80's" in the 1990's.

Duran Duran "Rio" (1982)

Among their best. Filled with bright colors, painted women, and visual effects that sums upe early '80's new wave/synth pop videos.

1 to 10: an 8 Not bad for a promotional give away, though if had been for sale the selection could be better and perhaps throw in a few more clips.

Borders is having a closing out sale (well, my local store since many have already closed), which I've bought a few things about two weeks ago. Didn't find much recently.

Honestly, it was much better than Barnes & Noble.

Boarders just didn't keep up with trends very well and they really didn't have a very good business model.  That and they were really overpriced on a lot of merchandise.

That list of discontinued foods did leave out something that I remember and that was Bit-o-Chocolate.  They listed Koogle and I remember that very well also.  They made peanut butter but it was flavored peanut butter.  They had a chocolate peanut butter that was about five parts chocolate to one part peanut butter.  It was awesome stuff.  They also had a strawberry and I think a banana peanut butter as well.  A&P used to carry it when I was a kid.  You have to have grown up in the 70s to remember those things.  There wasn't much good stuff that came out of that decade but that was an exception.
