Cartoon Network's presentation reel from 1991

Ironic, isn't it...

Good thing they went with the checkerboard logo since the circle looked generic, IMHO.

Disney Channel is now airing shortened (about 4 minutes), redubbed versions of their theatrical Mickey Mouse shorts...

Well, better than nothing and atleast they're exposed to a new generation...

In late October 2009, Disney Channel premiere a new short series called: "have a laugh!"[7] [8] These 4 to 5 minute segments would include re-dubbed versions of classic Disney Cartoons. The first of which premiere on October 26, 2009: Lonesome Ghosts.

The clips: "Have A Laugh"

(Honestly, they should be shown uncut. Though atleast the original versions are on the site.)

Looney Tunes back on Cartoon Network (well, wouldn't be suprised if temporarily)...nowonly  if it's  also on Boomerang  Cool

Found a post that I completely agree on from a Toon Zone thread about networks going downhill

Though I don't mind modern programming, I like channels that mixed the old with the new like Nickelodeon in the 1980's & 1990's where it aired older programs (outside of Nick at Nite) with their then current game shows, tween sitcoms, cartoons, etc.

As a kid in the early '90's, I've seen "I Love Lucy", "Leave It To Beaver", "Bewitched", "Brady Bunch", "Star Trek" airing in regular syndication. Now there's hardly anything from over 20 years ago (with exception of "Cheers" & "Cosby Show").

It doesn't sound like you don't really hate what the nets are doing as it sounds like you don't like any of the classic programming that they used to show, or any family-friendly fare like the Disney Channel shows. The Disney Channel is only disposable to YOU because you don't like any classic or family-friendly programming. Did the Disney Channel ever show anything you liked? I'm guessing not. (More modern-programming bias: Family Guy is not so great that a network could not survive without it.) I miss AMC showing classic films; showing modern movies with edits for commercials makes them just another Spike or WGN or whatever. I stopped watching AMC when they went moden and now only watch TCM now, which I'm betting is a channel you don't watch.

It's easy to defend these networks making these changes under the rationalization of "good business decisions" when they are
changing to modern stuff that you already like. But many of these networks used classic programming to become successful and then abandoned it--not because it wasn't doing well, but because younger executives were brought in who wanted to put on what they liked, rather than what their audiences liked.

TV Land pulled The Andy Griffith Show off their weekday primetime lineup many months ago, despite the fact that it was their highest rated program. Recently they have had to bring it back into their prime time lineup. The classic programming isn't being pulled because of low ratings; it's being pulled because younger executives come in who think they know everything and selfishly want to put on the modern stuff they like, rather than what their viewers expect or what has been consistent with the channel's identity in the past.

It's pretty sad when with all the many channels already showing modern stuff, people still want to destroy the few classic programming channels out there, or defend the demise of these channels as "good business decisions," because they selfishly and arrogantly can't stand for any network to be showing anything they don't like

Don't watch much VH1 Classic since it tend to air the same batch of videos, airs mostly specials, movies (especially that isn't music related) , and videos only air in the night/early morning hours.

Plus, there's more variety on the satellite music channels.

MTV aired 2 episodes of "Remote Control" last nite as a tribute for Ken Ober.

Oddly, the episodes didn't have Adam Sandler or Kari Wuhrer though still entertaining. Especially the second episode (from 1990), which one guy answered the most questions, but the winner was actually the one that answered a few. (The prizes were also interesting since technology/products have changed much since then.)

While they could've shown "special" episodes with celebrity contesants or more of Sandler, it's great that Ober's remembered and a few episodes have aired.

Especially that Disney XD & Disney Channel (outside regular airings of the CGI baby show) didn't air any Disney cartoon that Wayne Allwine voiced Mickey on (ie "House of Mouse") when he passed.

Wasted opportunities...

ABC Family... when Disney bought Fox ABC Family they turned it into a clone of the CW instead of an improved version of  what "Disney Channel" used to be...

Disney XD (formerly Toon Disney)... see above

VH1 Classics... not suprising since it's a Viacom network

Disney XD is hardly airing anything in the Christmas season...

ABC Family, Boomerang, and even  to an extant Cartoon Network are probably the only few that still air Christmas specials.

ABC Family is good, though honestly I'm not into Rankin Bass specials except for "Rudolph" that still airs on network tv (CBS, I think, have been airing it)

Strangely, Garfield specials aren't airing anymore despite of the recent popularity with the movies and current tv show.

Well, good thing for DVDs  Cool

Disney XD to be used by Marvel for character testing

Well, atleast there's no plans of a "Loonatics" type show with Mickey & Donald

In a way, great for fans of Marvel since they could create shows with lesser known characters that could gain more appeal.  (well there's already a movie with "Iron Man" and a current cartoon...which in a way is already happening since I don't think he was  well known like Wolverine or Spider Man)

Unlike how Warner Bros. just use known DC heroes for movies & tv shows.

VH1 Classics will have a another week long music video marathon "2010 videos for 2010" for New Years...

Since that the videos are now interrupted with those annoying "ring tone" pop-ups... skip.

Honestly, with the Viacom (ie MTV, VH1) archive, they could atleast take advantage or aquire some vintage music variety shows or something.

TV Guide, when it actual had listings

Though not sure if still around since I've haven't seen it on the magazine rack for a while.

Note: before Fox network and for some reason (probably the cable provider didn't have it at the time) TNT and Disney Channel aren't listed.

Watched the Brat Pack episode of "Movies & Music" on Reelz Channel

1. Why was "Footloose" included. Even if Kevin Bacon is an "honorary Brat Packer", "Footloose" wasn't directed by John Hughes. Though Bacon did appeared in "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" and "She's Having A Baby", but not on his teen films.

2. There was no mention of Hughes' passing, though the episode could've been recorded before. (episode was from 2009, but was aware of the show towards the end of the year)

3. Marilyn Manson's cover of Soft Cell's  "Tainted Love" was shown  because Molly Ringwald appeared in a cameo role in "Not Another Teen Movie", which parodies teen films. Aleast they didn't play anything from  "The Mighty Ducks"...

Music videos featured:

1. Simple Minds "Don't You (Forget About Me)" from "The Breakfast Club"
2. Marilyn Manson "Tainted Love"
3. Kenny Loggins "Footloose"
4. Oingo Boingo "Weird Science"
5. Yello "Oh Yeah"  from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off

OK, where's "Pretty In Pink" (Psychedelic Furs) and "If You Leave" (OMD)...
