TV Networks That Went Downhill

TBS is airing repeats of "Married With Children" in the early morning before "Saved by the Bell"... ugh!



If this had been done 15 years ago, there would be an uproar since "Married with Children" was one of the most edgiest sitcoms of the era. Though a great show and still holds up to this day that would top the overrated "Friends" & even "Family Guy". 


TV Land will drop "I Love Lucy" from the network in 2009... uh, not suprising since they've already been airing reality garbage, a few shows that aren't even a decade old, and also movies.

There's now a Moronic TV spin off site called mtvmusic.com.

Uhmmmm... there's already YouTube (which has tons of music videos and even some vintage performances) and don't they have video clips in their own site

ABC Family is slightly improving with it's "25 days of Christmas" scheduling since it's adding more specials and even "Mickey's Christmas Carol", which hasn't been seen on tv for a while and one of my favorite adaptations of the story. 

Though the network is mostly mediocre original programming (which most hardly lasts more than a season) and repeats of '90's sitcoms.

Haven't really watched much Comedy Central lately since most of their original programming tend to get stale fast and not much into "South Park" anymore.

Mostly watch YouTube and DVDs now in my downtime.

VH1 Classic (usually "Metal Mania" or "Totally '80's), Boomerang (sometimes, reminds me of '90's Cartoon Network. Though without Looney Tunes), and whatever channel if there's something worth checking (ie movie, special, whatever that catches my interest).


If I could improve a network...


VH1 Classic... Besides all music videos, I'd take advantage with the MTV/VH1 archives (I read that they aired "Club MTV" at one time and they air "Pop Up Video")  and whatever Viacom owns. Also more themed weekends (funny, sexiest, animated, videos from particular years), less shows (have to be music related), sell all reality shows to "The Reality Show Network", and videos shown in watchable hours.

Fuse... basically MTV with less or no reality shows

"Video Yearbook"... only goes up to early '90's and mostly air rap & alternative videos. If MTV still airs videos, they'd probably would do the same ("Back to the '90's" video hour with Snoop Dogg, Green Day,  Nirvana, and Madonna)

"Videos That Rocked The World", a few I've seen are interesting like Beastie Boys' "Fight For Your Right", though the specials about some videos tend to be very pretentious (making it look better than others, too much kissing up).

Cartoon Network Promises More Live Action!

It's official, Cartoon Network has gotten far worse...

Though Adult Swim haven't been good either...

MTV  airs music videos once again... though like VH1, during the dusk hours

Even older videos are added every know & then. Even few from the '80's like Peter Gabriel "Sledgehammer" &  Billy Idol "White Wedding" with '90's videos like Blink 182 "All The Small Things" & LL Cool J "Mama Said Knock You Out" ...

Though not much into the current rap and most of today's pop.

The infamous 1984 Madonna VMA "Like A Virgin" performance aired 

As for Beck, they could've aired "The New Pollution" or "Where It's At" rather than "Sexx Laws".

As for newer videos, not much interest me though the older videos pretty much stood out. Even the bad and/or average videos from the '80's & '90's.  Only seen it a few times and my thoughts are mixed.


As much I like "That's Not My Name" from The Ting Tings, the UK version of the video is slightly better (though "Shut Up & Let Me Go" is their best. IMHO).

How long will the "AM MTV" video block last? I'll give it about three months though not sure what their demographic would think, but they're probably more interested in the reality shows.

Well, I saw George Micheal "I Want Your Sex" (edited version)  some days ago.


Also a bit ironic considering that VH1 used to mix older videos with current on their video playlists.

Two Pearl Jams... though there's a recent "Rock Band" game, a bit ironic since they're supposed to be "anti-corperate"...

Didn't really miss much (Doubt they'll dig for vintage performances and more likely selected artists like Madonna)

Good thing for VH1 Classic, YouTube, and video tape/DVD compilations

My problem with MTV is that they play primarily the same videos all day

VH1 & MTV still play the same 15 current videos in rotation... though in the dusk hours and not much have changed except different faces

About 10 hours of videos (not counting "TRL" since it only aired short clips and "25 Lame" special also aired short clips, though with the hosts bashing them. Don't remember what was on "Video Cliches", but "Say What" had lyrics appeared at the bottom of the screen.)

Though I don't  remember much besides a bunch of shows, "Real World" marathons, and not much music videos. Most of the 10 hours of music videos appeared to be from the dusk/morning. Then again, 1999 wasn't even a good year for music and MTV have already became a cesspool for a couple years at the time.

Ironically, if VH1, Fuse, or even Moronic TV itself did another special like "25 Lame", they'd trash videos from Limp Bizkit, Creed, Master P, Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, Ricky Martin, and unfortunately from the pop princesses they'd ridicule Mandy Moore since a few are still popular/kissed upon.
