This album came out during one of the best times of my life and it was sort of a soundtrack for that time.  I still listen to it probably more than any other album in my collection.  As time goes on it amazes me even more as to how a 16 year old could make an album that good.  It's an interesting story about how it got the green light at the last minute and her 12+ hour days in recording studios to get the whole thing done in just a week.

"Only In My Dreams" celebrated its 30 year back in October but I wasn't aware of the song until June of 1987.  Deb said in an interview once that the song was on really light rotation, just sort of sat there off the Billboard 100, and then all of a sudden in the summer of 1987 it took off like a rocket.

Deb's debut listed on Paste Magazine's 30 iconic albums turning 30 article. ("Out of the Blue" is album #13) along with albums from U2, Guns N' Roses, George Michael, Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Prince, Whitney Houston, INXS, and other albums.

not listed: Whitesnake's self titled US breakthrough, Taylor Dayne's "Tell It To My Heart", albeit her debut single wasn't a hit until early 1988, soundtrack for "Dirty Dancing"

I don't remember the writer or what magazine or newspaper it was in but not that long ago someone gave "Out of the Blue" the title of the greatest teen idol album of all time.  As the years have passed by it has become more obvious to me just how good that album was and how huge of an accomplishment it was for someone in their teens to have written songs like that.
