Sparks and Jane Wiedlin "Cool Places" (1983)  8)

A bit obscure and peaked #49 on the Top 100 charts. I discovered it on a compilation CD "Classic MTV: Class of 1983." Though a good CD, honestly it wasn't a good representation of the network since the CD mostly focused on new wave with only a handful of crossover hits such as Spandau Ballet "True", Dexy's Midnight Runners "Come On Eileen", and Culture Club "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me."

Sam Kinison "Wild Thing" (1988)

Various rock star cameos from Billy Idol, Steven Tyler, Slash, Jon Bon Jovi, to name a few and also Jessica Hahn.

Tone Loc "Wild Thing" (1988)

"Take On Me."  Still maybe the best one hit wonder song of all time.

Recently discovered the radio mix of Whitesnake "Here I Go Again" (1987), which I found a copy of Whitesnake's "Greatest Hits" from the mid 1990's.

Interestingly the 1987 music video featured the album version.

The song was actually re-recorded, which they originally recorded "Here I Go Again" in 1982 for their "Saints and Sinners" album.

A good song but a very rarely seen video.

I remember there being three of those Charley Brown specials, one for Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Halloween.  The Thanksgiving and Halloween ones aren't often shown on TV anymore.  I loved the Halloween one maybe the best of the three.  I used to get a kick out of how Linus was trying to convince everyone that The Great Pumpkin was real and not some urban legend.  He ended up in a pumpkin patch thinking he was in the presence of the Great Pumpkin but it was only Snoopy.

George Michael, RIP  :-[

Some of my favorite songs and videos

Wham! "Everything She Wants"

One of my favorite songs, though not as popular as "Careless Whisper" or "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go"

Wham! "Careless Whisper"

Wham! "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go"

The badly dated video have given the song a lot of flack, but honestly it's not bad of a song. It had a '60's pop vibe.

George Michael "Faith"

The iconic video from his breakthrough solo album.
George Michael "Father Figure"

George Michael "Freedom '90"

George Michael didn't appear since he was tired of his fame and tired of doing videos at the time. The classic clip featured supermodels lip syncing to the song.

George Michael with Elton John "Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me"

He was huge back in the late 80s and into the early 90s.  His songs were on the radio in heavy rotation and back when MTV and VH-1 played music videos he was on at least once an hour.  I do have a couple of his albums, "Faith" and "Listen Without Prejudice."  He was one of those very rare types that wrote and produced his own music.  Today that's basically unheard of.

Ratt "Slip of the Lip"  8)

Taylor Dayne "Tell It To My Heart", which in a way reminds me of a slightly updated version, by about three years, of Madonna's video for "Lucky Star"

On April 18, 1987, "Headbangers Ball" made it's debut on MTV  8)

A clip of the first episode of the series hosted by Lemmy and Phil Taylor of Motorhead.

Some popular clips and favaorite songs/videos

Bon Jovi"Livin' on a Prayer". which "Slippery When Wet", released in late 1986. ushered a new era when glam metal became mainstream.

Ratt "Dance", one of my favorite songs and was actually popular on MTV, which was ranked at #83 on their year-end list and more likely been a hit on "Dial MTV" despite not being a Top 40 hit (#59 Hot 100, #36 Mainstream Rock)

Dokken "Dream Warriors", song featured on the third "Nightmare on Elmstreet" movie and the video featured Freddy Krueger and a then unknown Patricia Arquette.

Ozzy Osbourne "Crazy Train", from Ozzy's 1987 album "Tribute", a dedication to the late Randy Rhoades featuring live tracks from the early 1980's before his passing in 1982. Like Kiss "Rock N' Roll All Nite", the live version is miles better.

Def Leppard  "Animal"

Warlock "All We Are", funny how REM ripped the whole traffic jam concept.

Guns N' Roses "Welcome to the Jungle"

Kiss "Crazy, Crazy Nights"

Great White "Rock Me"

Motley Crue "Girls, Girls, Girls"

Whitesnake "Still of the Night", one of the three videos featuring Tawney Kitaen (popular being "Here I Go Again").

The Cult "Love Removal Machine"

"Cold Hearted" Paula Abdul (1989)

One of my favorite songs/videos from Paula Abdul and also a bit ironic considering she's being judged and by the turn of the new millennium she would be a judge on "American Idol"

Whitney Houston "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" (1987)

One of my favorite songs and like a lot of the outfits in the video, which is like a time capsule of that era.  8)

RIP, Tom Petty

Several favorite songs and videos

"You Got Lucky"

"Free Fallin"

Liked how it blends images the 1950's with the late 1980's (then present) 8)

"Runnin' Down a Dream"

"Don't Come Around Here No More"

One of the best and most surreal videos from the 1980's.
